Premier League extends away ticket price cap

Football

The Premier League has confirmed that the £30 price cap on away tickets will remain in place for a further two seasons.

Premier League clubs agreed to extend the current price cap on away tickets for the 2026-27 and 2027-28 seasons. The £30 limit, which the league first introduced in 2016, ensures visiting supporters do not pay more than the set amount for a match ticket. All 20 clubs reached the decision during a shareholders' meeting on Thursday, per the Premier League.

The cap was previously scheduled to expire at the end of the 2025-26 campaign. This latest agreement maintains the pricing structure for a further two years. According to Sky Sports, the measure aims to protect the attendance of travelling fans. The league also confirmed that the price cap will be reviewed again in 2028.

In addition to the ticket cap, clubs discussed a new league-wide Fan Engagement Standard. This initiative requires every club to appoint a Fan Advisory Board to ensure supporters have a voice in major decisions, as reported by The Guardian. The league stated that away fans are essential to the atmosphere of matches.
