English top-flight clubs paid a record £460m to player agents and intermediaries during the past 12 months, according to the FA.

Premier League teams increased their spending on agents by 13 percent over the last year, per figures released by the Football Association. The total expenditure of £460m marks the highest figure ever recorded by the league. Chelsea spent more than any other club, accounting for £75m of the total.

Manchester City followed with payments of £60m, while Manchester United recorded the third-highest spend at £34m. Liverpool and Arsenal also featured prominently in the figures, spending £31m and £25m respectively. This rise in spending occurred despite a general reduction in total transfer outlays across the division.

Luton Town recorded the lowest spend in the top flight, paying out £2m to intermediaries. The data covers the period between February 2023 and February 2024, as reported by The Guardian. These figures include payments made during both the summer and winter transfer windows, according to Sky Sports. The FA publishes these annual reports as part of transparency requirements regarding club finances.
