Officials correct to deny Amad penalty - panel

The Premier League's Key Match Incident Panel has supported the decision not to award Manchester United a penalty against Bournemouth.

The Premier League's Key Match Incident (KMI) Panel ruled that match officials correctly denied Amad Diallo a penalty during Manchester United's recent fixture at Bournemouth. Diallo went down following a challenge from Marcos Senesi, but both the referee and the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) deemed the contact insufficient for a foul.

According to the KMI Panel, the VAR was right not to intervene as the on-field decision did not constitute a clear and obvious error. The panel noted that the initial contact was minimal and did not warrant a spot-kick, per Sky Sports. This decision follows a review of several controversial officiating moments from the latest round of Premier League matches.

Manchester United eventually drew the match 2-2 at the Vitality Stadium. The result left the club in sixth place in the Premier League table, according to official league standings. Bournemouth remain in the bottom half of the table following the result, per the Guardian.
