Northern Ireland captain Jackie Burns believes the team has established a positive framework despite a 2-0 loss to Switzerland.

Northern Ireland women suffered a 2-0 defeat against Switzerland in a friendly fixture held in Zurich on Tuesday. Goals from Alayah Pilgrim and Smilla Vallotto secured the win for the hosts. Despite the result, captain Jackie Burns stated the squad now has something to build on under interim manager Kris Lindsay.

Lindsay took temporary charge of the national side following the departure of Tanya Oxtoby in February. According to the Irish Football Association, the interim manager implemented a new tactical approach during the international window. Burns noted the players felt more organised and positive about their performance compared to previous outings.

The fixture served as preparation for the upcoming World Cup qualifying campaign. Switzerland dominated possession throughout the match, but Northern Ireland's defence remained resilient until the 55th minute. Per Sky Sports, the team will return to Belfast before the next round of international fixtures. The association has not yet confirmed a permanent successor for the vacant managerial position.
