Newcastle United are seeking clarification from the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) over a non-penalty decision during their Premier League match against Chelsea. The incident occurred in Saturday's 2-2 draw at St James' Park.

Head coach Eddie Howe confirmed the club has contacted the PGMOL, stating they "want to know the thought process behind the decisions". The controversy surrounds a challenge by Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah on Newcastle forward Anthony Gordon inside the penalty area.

Referee Andy Madley did not award a penalty, a decision upheld by the video assistant referee (VAR). The Premier League Match Centre later described Chalobah's contact on Gordon as a "side-to-side shielding action" with the ball "within playing distance". Howe, however, maintained it was a "clear penalty" after reviewing the footage.

Newcastle were leading 2-1 at the time of the incident, with Chelsea subsequently equalising to secure a point.
