Benfica manager Jose Mourinho has stated that Gianluca Prestianni will have no future at the club if racial abuse allegations are proven.

Mourinho addressed the media following allegations that Prestianni targeted Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr during a recent fixture. The manager confirmed the club has opened an internal investigation into the matter. Mourinho stated that any player found guilty of racial abuse would see their career at Benfica come to an end immediately, according to reports from A Bola.

The incident allegedly occurred during a heated exchange on the pitch. Real Madrid representatives have called for a full inquiry by UEFA, per reports in Marca. Prestianni, 20, joined the Portuguese side in 2024 and has been a regular feature in the squad this season.

Benfica officials released a statement reiterating their zero-tolerance policy regarding discrimination. The Portuguese Football Federation is expected to monitor the findings of the internal club probe before deciding on further disciplinary action. Mourinho emphasised that the values of the club remain more important than any individual player's contribution on the field.
