Motherwell's Maswanhise in Demand After Strong Form

Football

Motherwell forward Tawanda Maswanhise has become a sought-after player in Scotland following a prolific goal-scoring season.

Tawanda Maswanhise, the 23-year-old Zimbabwean international, has emerged as a key figure for Motherwell this season. The forward, who primarily operates as a left winger, has scored 17 goals in 34 appearances across all competitions, including 13 in the Scottish Premiership. He also contributed four goals in the Premier Sports Cup and one in the Scottish FA Cup. Maswanhise recently netted a double against Livingston on January 31, 2026, marking his fifth consecutive game with a goal.

His impressive form has reportedly attracted interest from Scottish giants Celtic and Rangers. Motherwell coach Jens-Berthel Askou stated the club has no plans to sell the forward during the current January transfer window. Askou indicated that while Maswanhise is "for sale" eventually, the club aims to retain him until at least the summer to maximise his value and allow him to pursue the Premiership top scorer title. Maswanhise joined Motherwell in August 2024, having previously played for Leicester City's academy, and extended his contract until summer 2027.
