Former West Ham United forward Michail Antonio has joined Al-Sailiya SC after a period of recovery from a major road accident.

Michail Antonio has completed a move to Al-Sailiya in Qatar following his departure from West Ham United. The striker revealed that several clubs withdrew interest after he suffered a near-fatal car crash in December 2024. Antonio sustained multiple injuries in the collision, which occurred while he was travelling to training, according to Sky Sports.

The 35-year-old forward stated that he had to re-evaluate his career options as potential suitors expressed concerns regarding his physical condition. Antonio spent nine seasons at West Ham, where he became the club's all-time leading Premier League goalscorer with 67 goals. He helped the side win the UEFA Europa Conference League in 2023, per West Ham United.

The move to the Qatar Stars League marks the first time Antonio has played for a club outside of England. He had previously made 308 appearances for the Hammers across all competitions. Al-Sailiya officials confirmed the veteran striker has passed a medical and signed a one-year contract, per Reuters.
