Mateta Knee Injury 'Not as Bad as Feared'

Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta will not require surgery for his knee injury, according to manager Oliver Glasner.

Crystal Palace forward Jean-Philippe Mateta's knee injury is "not as bad as feared", manager Oliver Glasner confirmed on Tuesday. The Frenchman will not need surgery to address the issue, a decision made with recommendations from medical specialists.

The injury had caused Mateta's proposed transfer to AC Milan to collapse during the January transfer window. Medical tests during the Milan move had initially suggested a more serious problem, leading to the deal's collapse. Mateta has been out of action since Palace's last home game against Chelsea.

Glasner stated that several specialists and doctors believe the knee can be managed without an operation. While a specific return date remains unclear, Glasner expressed hope for a swift recovery, noting Mateta's desire to contribute to the team's goals. Mateta will now undergo rehabilitation at the club's training ground.
