Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Rob Edwards and Sunderland head coach Regis Le Bris have spoken out against recent online racial abuse.

Rob Edwards and Regis Le Bris condemned online racist abuse directed at players during recent matches. Wolverhampton Wanderers confirmed it reported abuse sent to an unnamed player following the team's 2-2 draw with Fulham on 22 February. Edwards stated the club will continue to support its squad and work with authorities to identify those responsible, according to Wolves. The Premier League is also investigating the matter.

Sunderland head coach Le Bris addressed similar incidents involving his players after a fixture against Hull City. The Championship club issued a statement confirming it is working with Northumbria Police to investigate the offensive messages, per Sunderland AFC. Both managers called for stricter measures from social media companies to prevent such behaviour. The English Football League previously stated it remains committed to removing discrimination from the game. These incidents follow a series of reports regarding online hate targeting professional footballers during the current season. The clubs confirmed that police investigations are ongoing at this time.
