Manchester United will hold a remembrance service at Old Trafford on Friday, 6 February, to mark the 68th anniversary of the Munich air disaster. The tragedy in 1958 claimed 23 lives, including eight Manchester United players and three club officials, when the team's plane crashed after refuelling in Munich.
The half-hour service will commence at 14:45 GMT under the Munich clock in the East Stand, with supporters invited to gather by 14:40. Reverend John Boyers will lead the commemoration, which includes a roll of honour, readings, and poems from various club representatives and legend Sammy McIlroy. Senior club officials will also lay wreaths.
Manchester United women's coach Marc Skinner emphasised the disaster's profound impact, stating its magnitude is only fully understood from within the club. He attends the annual event to celebrate the victims' lasting influence.
