Mainoo Form Embarrasses Former Man Utd Boss Amorim

Kobbie Mainoo's impressive performances under Michael Carrick have drawn criticism for former Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim.

Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo has impressed under interim manager Michael Carrick, starting all four of the club's recent victories. United have secured four consecutive wins, defeating Manchester City, Arsenal, Fulham, and Tottenham Hotspur. This resurgence in form for the 20-year-old has led to criticism for former head coach Ruben Amorim.

Amorim, who managed United from November 2024 until January 2026, gave Mainoo only a handful of appearances, with no Premier League starts. Reports indicated Mainoo considered a loan move in summer 2025 due to limited playing time, with Napoli showing interest. Former England international Ian Wright described Mainoo's current form as "very embarrassing" for Amorim. Amorim had previously defended his decisions, stating his different playing style and belief that Mainoo needed to improve. Mainoo has provided two assists in the past month.
