Jeremy Jacquet, the 20-year-old French defender due to join Liverpool in the summer, suffered a serious shoulder injury on Saturday. He was playing for his current club, Rennes, during their 3-1 Ligue 1 defeat away to RC Lens. Jacquet was forced off the pitch in the 69th minute after falling awkwardly, appearing to be in significant pain.
Rennes head coach Habib Beye later confirmed the injury was "quite serious" for the France Under-21 international. The incident occurred just five days after Jacquet completed his Liverpool medical. Liverpool agreed a deal worth £60 million for the centre-back, with his official move to Anfield scheduled for July 1, 2026.
This injury casts doubt on Jacquet's availability for the start of his Liverpool career. He has been a regular starter for Rennes this season, making 18 Ligue 1 appearances.
