Former Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard has held positive talks with Corinthians, according to reports in Brazil. The 33-year-old is currently a free agent after his contract with K League 1 side FC Seoul expired earlier this year. Lingard made 25 appearances during his single season in South Korea, scoring five goals for the club, per ESPN.
Corinthians officials met with Lingard's representatives to discuss a potential move to Sao Paulo. The Brazilian side finished 10th in the 2024 Campeonato Brasileiro and is looking to strengthen its midfield options, as reported by The Athletic. If the move is completed, Lingard would join former Premier League players Memphis Depay and Philippe Coutinho in the Brazilian top flight.
Lingard spent 22 years at Manchester United before leaving in 2022. He subsequently played for Nottingham Forest before moving to Asia. The midfielder has earned 32 caps for the England men's national team, scoring six times, according to the Football Association.
