Northern Ireland interim manager Kris Lindsay says the Irish FA will decide if he remains in charge of the senior men's national team.

Kris Lindsay stated it is up to the powers that be at the Irish FA to determine his future following a 0-0 draw against Luxembourg. The interim manager took charge of the senior men's team for the final two Nations League fixtures. He replaced Michael O'Neill, who stepped down from the position in November 2025.

Northern Ireland finished their Group C3 campaign with a goalless draw at Windsor Park on Saturday. This result followed a 2-2 draw against Belarus earlier in the week, according to Sky Sports. Lindsay described the experience of leading the national side as a privilege but remained non-committal regarding a permanent appointment.

The Irish FA has not yet confirmed a timeline for appointing a successor to O'Neill. Lindsay indicated he would return to his role as head of elite player development if the association chooses another candidate, per The Guardian. The national team now awaits the draw for the 2026 World Cup qualifying groups.
