Sam Kerr faces an uncertain future at Chelsea Women as her current contract approaches its expiry date this June. The Australian international signed a two-year extension in 2022, but the club has not confirmed a further renewal, according to Sky Sports. Kerr is currently recovering from a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament sustained during a mid-season training camp in Morocco.
Since joining from Chicago Red Stars in 2019, Kerr has scored 99 goals for the club and helped them to secure four consecutive Women's Super League titles. Manager Emma Hayes previously described the striker as a key figure in the squad's success. However, her injury and the upcoming departure of Hayes have increased speculation regarding potential changes to the team.
Chelsea Women currently sit at the top of the Women's Super League table, per The Guardian. If no agreement is reached, Kerr would be eligible to leave on a free transfer. The club has not provided an update on contract negotiations as of April 2026.
