England women's head coach Sarina Wiegman has handed Keira Barry her first senior international call-up. The Bay FC forward joins the squad ahead of upcoming Women's World Cup qualifiers against Spain and Iceland, according to The Guardian. Barry's inclusion follows the withdrawal of Manchester United defender Maya Le Tissier and Manchester City defender Naomi Layzell due to injury.
Wiegman also called up Tottenham Hotspur defender Molly Bartrip to bolster the defensive line. The Lionesses are preparing to face Spain in Cordoba on Friday before travelling to Reykjavik for the fixture against Iceland. Per Sky Sports, Barry has previously represented England at under-23 level and has impressed in the National Women's Soccer League this season.
Le Tissier and Layzell will remain with their respective clubs for assessment and rehabilitation. The Football Association confirmed the squad changes on Tuesday morning. England currently sit top of their qualifying group as they look to secure a place at the 2027 tournament in Brazil.
