Joe Hart returns to Shrewsbury in coaching role

Football

Former England goalkeeper Joe Hart has described his temporary stint as a coach at Shrewsbury Town as an enjoyable experience.

Hart returned to his boyhood club to support the first-team coaching staff during a transition period. The 37-year-old, who retired from professional football after leaving Celtic last summer, assisted with goalkeeper training sessions. He spent four seasons at the Shropshire club before joining Manchester City in 2006, according to the Shropshire Star.

Hart described the stand-in role as a lot of fun and praised the environment at the League One side. The former Manchester City goalkeeper remains a popular figure at the Croud Meadow, where he made 54 appearances as a teenager. He noted the professional standards within the squad during his brief tenure, per Sky Sports.

Shrewsbury Town currently sits in the League One relegation zone. The club continues to seek stability as it prepares for upcoming fixtures. Hart has not confirmed any plans for a permanent move into full-time coaching at this stage, focusing instead on his current media commitments.
