The Football Association has banned Manchester United midfielder Jack Fletcher for six matches following the use of a homophobic slur. Fletcher admitted to the disciplinary charge, which related to an incident during a match against Stoke City in October 2025. The 18-year-old player also received a fine of £3,500 for the breach of FA Rule E3.2, according to The Guardian.
Manchester United officials confirmed that the club and the player accept the decision. Fletcher issued a formal apology, stating he is deeply sorry for his actions and the offence caused. The midfielder must also attend a face-to-face education programme as part of the regulatory commission’s sanction, per Sky Sports reports.
The suspension applies to all domestic club football, meaning Fletcher will miss upcoming fixtures for the Manchester United under-21 and senior squads. The club noted that it continues to support diversity initiatives to prevent such incidents in the future. Fletcher remains under contract at Old Trafford, having signed his first professional deal last year.
