Sophie Ingle seeks to continue her return to international football as Wales prepare for two fixtures against Albania. The Chelsea midfielder recently recovered from a significant anterior cruciate ligament injury sustained during a pre-season match in September 2024. According to Chelsea, Ingle underwent successful surgery and a lengthy rehabilitation period before returning to competitive action.
The 32-year-old former national captain is part of the squad selected by manager Rhian Wilkinson for the qualifying matches. Wales currently sit in a strong position within their group as they bid to reach the tournament finals. Per the Football Association of Wales, Ingle reached 100 caps for her country in 2020 and remains a central figure in the midfield setup.
Club form has remained consistent since her return to the Women's Super League. Chelsea officials confirmed she signed a contract extension in late 2024 to remain at the club until 2026. The midfielder has won five league titles during her second spell with the London club.
