Igor Tudor explains viral hug with Tottenham staff

Tottenham head coach Igor Tudor has dismissed claims he mistook a staff member for Liverpool manager Arne Slot at Anfield last weekend.

Igor Tudor has clarified a viral incident involving player liaison officer Allan Dixon during the 1-1 draw at Liverpool on 15 March. Footage appeared to show the Tottenham head coach mistakenly hugging Dixon while under the impression he was Arne Slot. Tudor explained that his son informed him of the social media reaction in Croatia, but insisted he was fully aware of Dixon's identity as they work together daily.

The Croatian joked he might continue the gesture as a good luck charm following a positive week for the club. Tottenham followed the Anfield point with a 3-2 victory against Atletico Madrid on 18 March. Tudor took charge in February 2026 as interim head coach until the end of the season after the dismissal of Thomas Frank. Per the Premier League table, Spurs sit in 16th place with 29 points, according to the Daily Star. They remain level with Nottingham Forest and West Ham United as the fight against relegation continues.
