Howe demands support amid Newcastle future talk

Eddie Howe has reaffirmed his commitment to Newcastle United but stressed the need for support from club hierarchy to succeed.

Eddie Howe says he remains 100 percent committed to Newcastle United following a period of speculation regarding his position. The 48-year-old head coach spoke on Friday after reports suggested his future at St James’ Park was uncertain. Chief executive David Hopkinson previously declined to offer long-term guarantees following a 2-1 home defeat by Sunderland in March.

Howe stated that he requires support and good working relationships to deliver his best version for the club, per The Independent. He added that he will always put the interests of Newcastle United before himself in any decision making. Despite the public scrutiny, Howe confirmed he has not sought specific assurances about his job since the derby loss.

Newcastle currently sit 12th in the Premier League table after 31 matches, according to AiScore. The Magpies are six points behind seventh-placed Brentford with seven fixtures remaining. The Guardian reports that Howe maintains a strong relationship with sporting director Ross Wilson as they prepare for a trip to Crystal Palace on Sunday.
