Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has signed a one-year contract extension to remain at the club until June 2027. The 33-year-old was set to become a free agent this summer but agreed to fresh terms that include an option for a further year. Per The Guardian, the centre-back accepted a wage reduction from his previous £190,000-a-week deal to finalize the agreement.
Maguire has become a regular starter under interim manager Michael Carrick, helping United climb to third in the Premier League. His performances earned an England recall in March after a period of international exile, according to Sky Sports. Maguire described representing the club as the "ultimate honour" during a club interview on Tuesday.
The defender previously faced significant public criticism, leading his mother to defend him against what she called "disgraceful" abuse in 2023. Maguire stated he believes the club is now on a "forward curve" and intends to help the squad challenge for major trophies next season.
