Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has gifted a rare manuscript of Viking sagas to the library in Bryne, Norway. The 16th-century book, valued at £100,000, will be displayed in the town where the forward grew up. Per the Guardian, the manuscript contains historical tales of Norse kings and heroes.
Haaland purchased the item at an auction specifically to return it to his local community. Officials in Bryne confirmed that the library is preparing a secure display area for the artefact. This donation follows several charitable acts by the 25-year-old in his home region, according to Sky Sports.
Experts state the book is one of the few surviving copies of its kind from the period. Local authorities organised a ceremony to mark the arrival of the piece this week. Haaland remains a frequent visitor to the town during the Premier League off-season, despite his professional commitments in England. The manuscript is expected to be available for public viewing starting next month.
