Andy Milne, a retired teacher from Cheshire, is selling a house to fund his travel for the upcoming World Cup. Milne became known as the Thatched Roof Man during the 2022 tournament in Qatar. He plans to attend matches across North America this summer, according to The Guardian.
Milne has followed the England men's national team for over 40 years. He previously used his pension to attend the tournament in Qatar and has now decided to sell a rental property to cover costs for the 2026 edition. The 61-year-old supporter told Sky Sports that he wants to ensure he can follow the team regardless of the expense.
The 2026 World Cup features 48 teams competing across three host nations. Milne intends to watch England fixtures in various cities, per reports from Reuters. He has attended every World Cup since 1982, with the exception of the 1994 tournament held in the United States. His signature look includes a replica World Cup trophy and a distinctive hat.
