Dundee United confirmed they received a formal apology from the Scottish Championship leaders. The Tannadice club considered the social media post inappropriate given Sibbald's ongoing commitments to his current team, per The Courier. Falkirk removed the image from their official channels shortly after the complaint was lodged.
Sibbald has made 32 appearances for Dundee United this season. He previously spent seven years with Falkirk before moving to Livingston and then United.
