Everton Women Sack Manager Brian Sorensen Amid WSL Struggles

Football

Brian Sorensen has been sacked as manager of Everton Women, with the club currently ninth in the Women's Super League.

Everton Women have sacked head coach Brian Sorensen. The Danish manager departed on Wednesday, 4 February 2026, after taking charge of the team ahead of the 2022-23 season. Sorensen had signed a contract extension with the club in April 2025, committing him until June 2027.

The club currently sits ninth in the Women's Super League table, having secured 11 points from 14 fixtures. This position places them four points clear of the relegation zone.

Sorensen's departure follows Everton Women's first home league victory of the season, a 2-1 win against Aston Villa last weekend. Chief executive Angus Kinnear stated a "change of direction is necessary" for the club's progression. Assistants Stephen Neligan and Ashley Tootle have also left their roles. Under-18s coach Scott Phelan will take interim charge for the remainder of the campaign.
