EFL prepares for promotion and Hodgson return

Football

The English Football League returns on Good Friday with potential for the first promotion of the campaign and Roy Hodgson's return.

Chesterfield could secure the National League title and promotion to League Two if results go their way on Good Friday. Per Sky Sports, the leaders face Boreham Wood while second-placed Barnet travel to Solihull Moors. Roy Hodgson returns to management with Watford for their Championship fixture against Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium. The 76-year-old replaces Valerien Ismael, who the club dismissed earlier in March.

Middlesbrough and Millwall meet in a fixture significant for the play-off race. According to The Guardian, Middlesbrough sit one point behind the top six after a recent run of form. Millwall remain in contention following three consecutive victories under Neil Harris. In League One, Portsmouth aim to maintain their lead at the top of the table when they visit Wycombe Wanderers. League Two leaders Mansfield Town travel to Wrexham, where a victory would strengthen their position in the automatic promotion places, according to the EFL. All matches take place on Friday 29 March.
