Several English Football League teams could secure promotion or vital points in the race for the top flight during the upcoming fixtures.

Sunderland travel to face Leeds United at Elland Road on Saturday. The visiting side currently occupies second place in the Championship table with 85 points after 41 matches, according to the English Football League. They lead third-placed Leicester City by two points, though the Foxes hold a game in hand. Leeds United sit in fourth position with 82 points as the battle for automatic promotion intensifies.

In League One, Portsmouth could secure promotion to the Championship if results go their way this weekend. They currently lead the division with 90 points from 42 fixtures, per Sky Sports. Paul Cook’s side faces a trip to Bolton Wanderers, who occupy third place. A victory for the league leaders would move them closer to ending their 12-year absence from the second tier.

League Two leaders Stockport County host Morecambe at Edgeley Park. Stockport require four more points from their final five matches to guarantee promotion, according to The Guardian. They currently hold a four-point lead at the top of the table.
