Dundee United secured a victory over Celtic to intensify the battle to avoid the Scottish Premiership play-off spot.

Dundee United defeated Celtic on Sunday to move closer to safety in the Scottish Premiership. The result leaves four teams within three points of each other at the bottom of the table. Ross County, St Johnstone, and Kilmarnock remain at risk of finishing in the eleventh-placed play-off position, according to Sky Sports.

United now sit tenth in the standings following the win at Tannadice. Manager Jim Goodwin said the performance showed the character required to remain in the top flight, per STV News. The gap between the bottom five clubs has narrowed significantly with only five fixtures remaining in the regular season.

Celtic remain top of the league despite the loss, but their lead over second-placed Rangers has been reduced to four points. The Glasgow side struggled to break down a resolute United defence throughout the 90 minutes. St Johnstone and Ross County both failed to pick up maximum points in their respective Saturday fixtures, further tightening the relegation race.
