Dundee Football Club arranged a precautionary pitch inspection at Dens Park on Wednesday afternoon. The inspection, scheduled for 2:30pm, followed heavy overnight rainfall in the area. The Scottish Premiership fixture against Motherwell is due to kick off at 7:45pm GMT.
The Dark Blues announced the inspection on social media, stating it was arranged with the SPFL. This decision came after persistent wet weather throughout January, culminating in another overnight deluge. Club officials sought to determine the pitch's playability for the evening match.
A blizzard warning was also active for parts of Tayside, including areas near Dundee. Motherwell entered the match sitting fourth in the Premiership table, enjoying a five-game unbeaten run. Dundee, meanwhile, sought to end a three-game winless streak. An update on the inspection's outcome was expected later on Wednesday.
