Roberto De Zerbi has departed Olympique Marseille after 18 months, following a recent Champions League exit and a heavy league defeat.

Roberto De Zerbi has left his position as Olympique Marseille head coach by mutual consent. The Italian's departure was announced on Wednesday, 11 February 2026, bringing an end to his 18-month tenure at the club. He had initially joined Marseille in June 2024 on a three-year contract.

Marseille confirmed the decision was a "difficult collective choice" made after discussions involving the club's owner, president, sporting director, and De Zerbi. The move follows the club's exit from the Champions League in January, after a 0-3 defeat to Club Brugge on 29 January 2026. A significant 0-5 loss to rivals Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1 on 8 February 2026 also preceded the announcement.

De Zerbi guided Marseille to a second-place finish in Ligue 1 during the 2024-25 season, securing Champions League qualification for the first time since 2022. The club thanked him for his "investment, commitment and professionalism" during his time in charge.
