Sonia Bompastor has insisted Chelsea Women will "never give up" on the WSL title, despite earlier suggesting the race was "probably over".

Chelsea Women manager Sonia Bompastor has clarified her recent remarks regarding the Women's Super League title race. Following her side's 2-0 defeat to Arsenal on Saturday, January 24, Bompastor initially stated the title was "probably gone". Beth Mead and Mariona Caldentey scored for Arsenal at Stamford Bridge.

This result left the Blues six points behind league leaders Manchester City, who had the opportunity to extend their advantage to nine points. Despite her initial assessment, Bompastor quickly added that her team would "never give up" and would "fight until the very end".

She emphasised the squad's focus on securing points and maintaining their second-place position in the league table. Chelsea were the invincible champions last season but have faced a more challenging defence of their title this year.
