Chelsea recorded a pre-tax loss of £262.4m for the financial year ending June 30, 2025. This figure represents the largest annual deficit in Premier League history, according to the Independent. It exceeds the previous record of £197.5m set by Manchester City during the 2010-11 season.
The club reported a profit of £128.4m in the previous 12 months. That result was aided by the sale of the women's team to a subsidiary company, Blueco Midco, for nearly £200m, per beIN SPORTS. Chelsea attributed the latest losses to increased operating costs and a return to European competition.
Despite the record deficit, the club remains compliant with the Premier League's profitability and sustainability rules. Revenue for the period rose to £490.9m, the second-highest in the history of the club. This income included broadcast receipts from a fourth-placed finish and a victory in the UEFA Conference League. Chelsea Women also reported a loss of £17.1m on revenue of £21.3m.
