The former Chelsea academy player faces a difficult career path following a series of significant injury setbacks.

Charly Musonda remains a free agent following his departure from Cypriot side Anorthosis Famagusta in 2024. The Belgian midfielder joined Chelsea at 15 years old and signed a professional contract worth £40,000 per week, according to The Athletic. He made seven senior appearances for the London club and scored one goal during a 5-1 victory against Nottingham Forest in 2017.

Musonda suffered a posterior cruciate ligament injury while on loan at Vitesse Arnhem in 2018. Doctors reportedly gave him a 20 percent chance of playing professional football again, per Sky Sports. He spent four seasons without a competitive appearance before his Chelsea contract expired in 2022.

Following his release, he moved to Spanish side Levante on a two-year deal but left after one season by mutual consent. He then joined Anorthosis Famagusta in September 2023. His contract was terminated less than a year later. Musonda has struggled to maintain fitness throughout his career, according to ESPN.
