Celtic Football Club will contest the red card shown to defender Auston Trusty during Sunday's Scottish Premiership match against Hearts.

Celtic Football Club will appeal the red card shown to defender Auston Trusty during Sunday's Scottish Premiership match against Hearts.

Trusty received a red card after a VAR review in the 2-2 draw at Tynecastle. Referee Steven McLean initially issued a yellow card for a challenge on Hearts forward Landry Kabore. However, VAR official John Beaton advised McLean to review the incident on the monitor, leading to the yellow card being upgraded to a red for denying a goalscoring opportunity.

Celtic manager Martin O'Neill expressed his disagreement with the decision after the match. He argued that the ball was moving away from goal and a covering defender was present. The club has confirmed it will submit an appeal to the Scottish FA, with an independent panel set to review the incident this week. The draw left Hearts at the top of the table, six points ahead of third-placed Celtic.
