Celtic manager Martin O'Neill has confirmed his strong interest in signing free agent midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Celtic manager Martin O'Neill has expressed significant interest in bringing free agent Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Parkhead. O'Neill confirmed he has held discussions with the former Liverpool and Arsenal midfielder, who is currently without a club. Oxlade-Chamberlain, aged 32, became a free agent after departing Turkish side Besiktas at the close of the 2024/25 season.

The ex-England international has been maintaining his fitness by training with former club Arsenal since November 2025. O'Neill acknowledged that Oxlade-Chamberlain likely has numerous options available to him, potentially including clubs situated closer to London. Despite this, the player is reportedly "excited" by Celtic's proposition and is understood to be seeking a UK-based move following the recent birth of his second child. O'Neill expressed surprise that no club has yet secured the midfielder's services, noting his training with Arsenal.
