The Court of Arbitration for Sport has confirmed it will hear Senegal's appeal against being stripped of the Africa Cup of Nations title.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas) confirmed on Wednesday that the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) has filed a formal appeal. The move follows a decision by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to strip Senegal of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title. According to Cas, the appeal seeks to set aside the CAF ruling and declare Senegal the winners.

CAF awarded Morocco a 3-0 victory after the final on 18 January. Although Senegal originally won the match 1-0 in extra time, players left the pitch for 14 minutes in protest against a penalty. CAF ruled this action a forfeiture under tournament regulations, per the Independent.

Cas Director General Matthieu Reeb stated the tribunal will ensure proceedings are conducted as swiftly as possible. A three-person arbitral panel will be appointed to establish a procedural calendar. The FSF has also requested a suspension of filing deadlines until CAF provides the full grounds for its decision, according to SuperSport.
