Cardiff City Football Club has reported a loss of £35m for the 2023-24 financial year, according to its latest accounts.

Cardiff City remains reliant on the financial support of Vincent Tan after the club reported a loss of £35m for the year ending June 2024. The accounts, filed at Companies House, show the club’s total debt has risen to £145m. Tan provided almost £90m in loans to the Championship side by the end of last season, per accounts analysed by the South Wales Echo.

Turnover for the period reached £21.2m, which represented an increase from the previous year. However, operating expenses and interest payments contributed to the significant deficit. The club also noted that the settlement of legal disputes related to the late Emiliano Sala impacted the financial figures.

Legal fees and settlement costs reached £25.1m as the club concluded various disputes. Despite the heavy losses, the board of directors stated that the majority shareholder intends to continue his support for the foreseeable future. The club currently sits in the mid-table of the Championship division, according to Sky Sports.
