Barrow hire fifth manager of League Two season

Football

Barrow AFC have appointed their fifth manager of the current League Two campaign following a series of coaching departures.

Barrow AFC have appointed a fifth manager for the current campaign, according to Sky Sports. The League Two club began the season with Stephen Clemence, but a sequence of changes has seen the Cumbrian side break the record for the most permanent or interim bosses in a single English Football League season. Clemence was dismissed in December following a run of poor results.

According to the EFL, the club currently sits in the bottom half of the table. Their management turnover surpasses the levels seen at Premier League clubs like Nottingham Forest or Tottenham Hotspur in recent years. Per The Guardian, the frequent changes in the dugout have occurred as the board attempts to avoid relegation to the National League. The current squad has worked under four different tactical approaches since August. Barrow officials confirmed the latest appointment is intended to provide stability for the remaining fixtures of the 2025-26 season. No details regarding the length of the new contract were disclosed.
