Barcelona president Joan Laporta expressed disappointment after midfielder Dro Fernandez, 18, completed his transfer to Paris Saint-Germain.

Eighteen-year-old midfielder Dro Fernandez has completed his transfer from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain. Barcelona president Joan Laporta described the situation surrounding the move as "unpleasant".

Fernandez, who joined Barcelona's La Masia academy at 14, signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with the French club, keeping him in Paris until 2030. PSG reportedly paid a transfer fee of around €8m (£6.9m), exceeding his €6m release clause as a gesture of goodwill.

Laporta told Catalan radio that Barcelona had agreed a new solution with Dro for when he turned 18. However, his agent surprisingly informed the club that Fernandez could not fulfil the agreement, leaving Barcelona angered. The Spanish youth international made his first-team debut for Barcelona in September, making five senior appearances before his departure.
