Bosnia manager Sergei Barbarez has refused to apologise to Denmark head coach Steve Cooper following a dispute regarding Benhamin Tahirovic. Barbarez previously claimed Cooper dropped the midfielder from the Danish squad during the preparation for a recent international qualifier. The Bosnia head coach stated he would not retract his comments despite the factual disagreement between the two managers.
Cooper replaced Kasper Hjulmand as Denmark manager earlier this season and has overseen the national side during their current campaign. Per Sky Sports, Barbarez insisted his information regarding the player's status was accurate at the time of his initial statement. The 54-year-old manager maintained his stance during a press conference held before Bosnia's upcoming fixture, according to reports from The Guardian.
Tahirovic remains a central figure in the dispute between the two camps. The midfielder has represented Bosnia at senior level while playing his club football in the Netherlands. Cooper has not issued a further public response to the latest comments from the Bosnian coaching staff.
