Motherwell manager Jens Berthel Askou said he is not surprised that no Fir Park players were named in the latest Scotland squad.

Motherwell manager Jens Berthel Askou expressed no surprise regarding the lack of Fir Park representation in Steve Clarke's Scotland squad. Clarke named his selection for upcoming pre-World Cup friendlies earlier today. Askou noted that while some players are performing well, they have not yet reached the level required for international selection.

The manager stated that his squad members must show greater consistency to earn a place in the national set-up. Motherwell currently sit in the bottom half of the Scottish Premiership table, following a run of inconsistent results. Askou believes the players need to focus on their domestic form before eyeing a call-up to the senior side.

No Motherwell player has featured for Scotland since 2021, according to Sky Sports. Midfielder Lennon Miller was discussed as a potential candidate, but he will instead join the under-21 squad. Askou remains confident that his players can develop into international contenders if they improve their individual performances, per STV News.
