Arsenal academy staff are carefully managing the progression of Max Dowman after the midfielder became the youngest goalscorer in Premier League history. The 16-year-old scored during the 3-1 victory over Everton on 14 March 2026, according to the Premier League. This surpassed the previous record held by Cesc Fabregas.
Club officials intend to rotate Dowman between the under-18 squad and the senior first-team environment to ensure his physical welfare. Manager Mikel Arteta noted that the club must protect the player from external pressure while he completes his secondary education, per Sky Sports. Dowman has made four senior appearances since his debut in January.
