The former Accrington Stanley player has been appointed assistant coach for the England men's national team under Thomas Tuchel.

The Football Association confirmed Anthony Barry as the assistant coach for the England men's senior team. Barry joins head coach Thomas Tuchel following their previous working relationship at Chelsea and Bayern Munich. The 38-year-old coach previously held roles with the Republic of Ireland, Belgium, and Portugal national teams, according to Sky Sports.

Barry played for several lower-league clubs during his professional career, including Accrington Stanley and Wrexham. He transitioned into coaching at Wigan Athletic before joining Tuchel at Chelsea in 2020. The duo won the Champions League together in 2021, per The Guardian.

Tuchel and Barry signed contracts to lead England through the 2026 World Cup cycle. Barry is the only English coach in the senior management team.
