Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson will miss the Champions League round of 16 first leg against Galatasaray but may return this weekend.

Alisson Becker is unavailable for the first leg of the Champions League knockout tie against Galatasaray. The Brazil international sustained a minor injury that prevents his involvement in the fixture. Liverpool staff do not consider the issue to be long term, according to Sky Sports.

Caoimhin Kelleher is expected to start in goal for the match at Anfield. The Republic of Ireland international has featured regularly in cup competitions and during Alisson's previous absences this season. Liverpool travel to face the Turkish champions in the return leg later this month, per UEFA.

Management indicated that Alisson could recover in time for the Premier League fixture against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday. The goalkeeper has kept 10 clean sheets in the league during the current campaign, according to the Premier League website. His availability for the weekend remains subject to further assessment by the medical team. Liverpool currently occupy second place in the domestic standings as they continue their pursuit of the title.
