Sixteen-year-old Ajay Tavares has joined FC Barcelona's La Masia academy following a youth career in Norfolk and London.

Ajay Tavares, 16, relocated to Spain to join the FC Barcelona youth system, La Masia. The midfielder previously spent time at the academies of Norwich City and Arsenal before moving abroad. Born in the Norfolk market town of Swaffham, Tavares also represented local side Swaffham Town during his early development.

Former coaches and family members described his progression from grassroots football in eastern England to one of the most prominent academies in world football. According to The Guardian, the teenager is regarded as a significant prospect within his age group. He qualifies to represent England at international level.

Tavares is now part of the residential programme at Barcelona, where he continues his footballing education alongside other international recruits. The move follows a trend of young British players seeking opportunities in European leagues. Per Sky Sports, his development is being monitored by national team scouts as he gains experience in the Spanish youth leagues.
