Aberdeen have received permission to speak with St Mirren manager Stephen Robinson regarding their vacant managerial position.

Aberdeen have moved to secure a new manager by making a formal approach for Stephen Robinson. St Mirren confirmed they granted the Pittodrie club permission to hold talks with the 51-year-old Northern Irishman, according to Sky Sports. Robinson has managed the Paisley side since February 2022 and recently guided them into the top six of the Scottish Premiership.

The Dons have searched for a permanent successor since dismissing Barry Robson in January. Peter Leven has filled the role on an interim basis during the recruitment process. Robinson previously managed Motherwell and Morecambe before his current tenure at St Mirren, per STV News. He signed a contract extension with the Buddies in 2023 which runs until the summer of 2026.

St Mirren currently sit fifth in the league table as they pursue European qualification for a second consecutive season. Aberdeen remain in the bottom half of the standings following a difficult campaign. No official agreement has been reached between the two clubs regarding compensation terms, according to the Daily Record.
