Aberdeen have confirmed the appointment of Stephen Robinson as their new head coach following his departure from St Mirren.

Aberdeen ended their search for a permanent manager by appointing Stephen Robinson on a contract at Pittodrie. Robinson leaves Scottish Premiership rivals St Mirren to take the role, according to Sky Sports. The 51-year-old succeeds Neil Warnock, who departed the club in March 2024. The appointment follows a lengthy recruitment process led by the Aberdeen board.

St Mirren confirmed they reached an agreement with Aberdeen for the Northern Irishman’s release, per The Guardian. Robinson had managed the Paisley side since February 2022, leading them to successive top-six finishes in the top flight. He previously coached Motherwell and Oldham Athletic.

First-team coach Peter Leven remains part of the coaching staff after serving as interim manager. The club expects Robinson to lead the team for their upcoming league fixtures as they look to improve their current standing. Aberdeen sit in the bottom half of the table following a difficult run of results, according to STV News. Robinson is the fourth permanent manager at the club in three years.
